Bangla/Bengali Joomla CMS - বাংলা জুমলা বাংলাদেশ

(This note is more of a personal one.)

1. Joomla.org.bd was hosted on a "shared host" along with other few hundred sites. In a shared hosting environment, one is as most as safe as the worst vulnerable one. This goes in parallel to the Engish proverb "a chain is as strong as its weakest link." The simple explanatation is that the security of a site depends on the mercy of the other sites hosted of the same host. Joomla itself is secure.

2. Anti-virus companies are scaremongers and use scare techniques to promote and sell their products. A hacked website with infected scripts has no means on Earth of infecting a visitor's computer. The reason for that, JavaScript has no access to the local file system of the visitor's computer. (On older version of Microsoft Internet Explorer it was possible but IE 6 and later versions have changed the situations.) However a script can access any form data input by a visitor when browsing an infected page. A visitor downloading and installing something without being fully sure what it is, is also at risk. In all kind of security related risks commonsense is still the best effective measure.

3. I have been spending time with Joomla since 2005. This was a hobby that I enjoyed. Due my other committments these days I do not have much time to maintain the site and the Bangla section of Joomla forum. In recent times I had two persons taken over me, but it didnt work well. I am still trying to find one who could replace me. If I cant find any, this site will discontinue soon.

Joomla has gained tremendous popularity even it is relatively new CMS software. In a recent poll Joomla has topped the list competing with other CMS. Drupal was the second winner. Today a search on Google with Joomla would return four millions English sites. Including other languages this number would be much higher.

The Joomla forum has most of the basic information needed to secure a Joomla site.

কম্পিউটার মনিটরে খারাপ মানের জন্য প্রচলিত বাংলা ফন্টগুলো অনেক দিন থেকেই আমাদের প্রত্যাশা মেটাতে পারছিলো না। অবশেষে আমরা নিজেরা কিছু একটা করার উদ্যোগ নিলাম। মনিটরে সুন্দর দেখার জন্য বৈশাখী ফন্টের আজও বিকল্প বের হয়নি। কিন্তু সমস্যা হলো, বৈশাখী ইউনিকোড সমর্থন করে না। আর, বৈশাখীর নির্মাতা আল্পনা পোর্টাল ব্যবসাপাতি গুটিয়েছে। এ পরিস্থিতিতে, আমরা একুশে দলের লোহিত ফন্টটিকে মনিটরে সুন্দর দেখানোর চেষ্টা চালাই। ফন্টটিতে ট্রুটাইপ হিন্ট যোগ করি যাতে তা স্ক্রীনে সুন্দর দেখায়। নতুন এ ফন্টটির নাম দেয়া হয়েছে অপনালোহিত।  অপনালোহিত কেমন দেখায় তা বোঝানোর নীচে জুমলা-বিডির ওয়েব সাইটের একটা ছবি দেয়া হলো। অপনালোহিত আমাদের নামানো যাবে এ সাইটের ডাউনলোড সেকশন থেকে। অনুগ্রহ করে নামানোর আগে লাইসেন্স শর্তাবলী ভালমতো পড়ে নিন।
